Even though FPA is an architectural practice in New Zealand, we are often approached by our clients to work with them on designs throughout the Pacific.

Based on our experience with large scale industrial and commercial masterplanning, we were engaged to masterplan a new logistics park in Papua New Guinea. This site had been identified for a much needed facility close to the airport to enable import and export trade, growth in PNG and promote local employment.

This is a very large site of 21.157 hectares, which is primarily a sub-division for industrial and commercial buildings of various sizes to suit future demand. This then provided the opportunity, to design a local retail centre with a protected open court, for hospitality, as well as a small hotel building overlooking a recreation park. The client’s research working with the local government and their Brief, supported this large scale mixed use destination.
